Mt. Hoffman

All forests have their own personality. I don’t just mean the obvious differences, like how an English woodland is different from a Central American rain forest, or comparing tracts of West Coast redwoods to the saguaro forests of the American Southwest... they each have their own gossip, their own sound, their own rustling whispers and smells. A voice speaks up when you enter their acres that can’t be mistaken for one you’d hear anyplace else, a voice true to those particular tress, individual rather than of their species.
— Charles de Kint, The Onion Girl

For my birthday we hiked Mt. Hoffman. Mt. Hoffman is a lovely little hike with extraordinary views. The sight at the top is definitely worth the tiny, short, slightly steep section among the trees.

Before reaching the top, you walk among a remarkable little forest, it feels like you are walking the pages of Tolkien with Frodo and Sam - on your way to catch a glimpse of Smaug’s hoard. Once you break out from the trees, you can see endless mountains to the west and the gently undulating green foothills to the east.

You should all go.
