Alberta Skies

I believe the world is incomprehensibly beautiful. An endless prospect of magic and wonder
— Ansel Adams

It would be an understatement to say that during the past month or so Alberta’s Sky has been … exciting. You never knew quite what you would get when you stepped into the field and looked up.

Sky itself is forever changing, it is never the same. Sky only needs seconds to rearrange itself into something new - something that has never and will never be seen again. If you wished, you could easily and conveniently explain away the shift from blue… to pink… to peaceful… to aggressive - in wonderful academic language tied with a neat scientific bow.

Easy.

But I think the sky is intrinsically magic. There is a magnetism that conjures a spell calling upon that thing deep inside of you - where your wonder and curiosity reside - and brings it forth, unwittingly. Magic is when you feel the thunder in your bones - when everything is calm during a tempest…when you feel the first kiss of rain on your cheeks. Magic is when you acknowledge you are standing amidst a wild moment - and you giggle in the face of a black sky shot through with lightening, echoing colours never seen before.

That is magic.

I think everyone should stand in the middle of a field with a storm approaching, and let the magic work itself upon your wonder.
