A Night of Hot Air
As soon as I saw you, I knew an adventure was about to happen
- Winnie the Pooh
A few weeks ago, Alli and I went on a night adventure to High River to check out the High River Balloon Festival. It was pretty epic - the balloons lit up at night were quite the riot, with spouts of flame creating exclamation points amidst brightly coloured fabric. There is something very elemental about filling a large bit of fabric with hot air, attached to a (smaller than you would expect); wicker basket. Then trusting that it will all hold together as you lift off into the sky.
We learned many things that night, but the most memorable are:
French fires are best eaten when shared
Hot dogs accompany laughter admirably
Flames are fun
Hot Air Balloons are persnickety
Parking and subsequent leaving of the festival is an adventure and best done in teams to leaven the inevitability of becoming jammed in traffic
Thanks Alli, for an awesome night!
