Walkin' on Mars

A mountaintop is not simply an elevation, but an island, a world within a world, a place out of a place
— Paul Grucgow, The Necessity of Empty Places

On this day, my friend Adrian and I were supposed to walk the ridge. Point. To. Point.

It was going to be epic, it was supposed to be an adventure - we were going to walk along a Spine of the World.

Nope. Hard Stop. No.

Apparently the Spine of the World was closed that day. So, using pivoting skills learned through life in a pandemic - we simply walked across the highway and went to Mars.

Thanks Adrian for the laughs and the stories, and even though the day did not go as planned, I am thankful for the time amidst ancient rocks, crusty snow, campfire air and sun flares.

One day - we will walk the Spine. Point. To. Point.
