Unnamed Waterfall Adventures

Between every two pines is a doorway to a new world
— John Muir

This summer, Mom and I decided to wander halfway up a mountain to find a waterfall I had only seen photos of - and which did not have a name (that I could find anyways). We have issues finding waterfalls, and sometimes don’t notice the cairns pointing us in the right direction - but this time the stars were aligned!

We followed a meandering path dappled with golden light slipping through damp branches, sound muffled by the thick carpet of moss. The air was crisp with the hint of fall - yet the sun bore down with the full force of summer. It was one of those days were you just know that summer is fighting for her last breath, while fall silently and unrelentingly tiptoes forward; effortlessly gracing the forest in a chorus of colors so ingenious that no artist could ever hope to replicate.

But that was not today. Fall may have held the early morning within its grip - but summer reclaimed the day in warmth and her golden glow.

Thanks Mom for exploring burned forests, slightly precarious cliffs and a good number of ‘ups’ to find the waterfall.
