The Last of '23 and Beginning of '24
I know that this is behind the times, almost two months if I am being truthful…
But, you know - Life has a way of joining hands with Time and skipping merrily along. It all adds up and all of a sudden you are sitting with a basket of twinkly remembrances, captured moments capering about within. Although -(let’s be honest) - some are a bit duller than their more sparkling friends… yet your basket is full to the brim. Holding a kaleidoscope of memories, I wonder…
…how did all these get in here?
I do think that there is some sort of magical time warp that happens towards the end of a year - as the World adjusts the weight of her crown, readying herself for whatever may come with the reign of ‘24. Watching ‘23 step wearily down, mantel heavy and worn - a year’s work done. The World gives herself time to plant her feet, square her shoulders, and sighing mightily - she squints towards the end of the tunnel. The narrowing of time where space quickens, allowing a year to rest, and one to begin anew. It is as though the present speeds up while it lengthens and you are never quite sure what day it is, much less the time.
Plus the food.
Mostly the gravy.
Oh, who am I kidding? The chocolate, too.
Sitting with my basket full of memories gathered during the time that is and was, comprising of remember when…
I remember…
the unexpected vibrancy of splashed red, pooling on ice
Emergency room discussions on how best to trim a torn toe
the strength and determination of a HemiDog and the fight in ones soul
Cone Life and the destruction of all things in a HemiDog’s way
a lens, with a wider view
kissing sun flares and a velveteen nose
a hunter poised, a shriek of defiance, a mess of feathers and a full belly
an Old Soul, dances in the snow
Silly grins, full hearts and pockets of carrots
a black and white fashion icon strutting neon pink down a snowy runway
A collection of shiny and dull to chase out the old and welcome the new.
